We’ve just got back from another stay at our caravan at Doniford Bay, and this one was easily one of the best trips we’ve had there. I went down with my seven-year-old son and, somehow, we managed to pack a ridiculous amount into our time away. One of the things I love most about having the caravan at Doniford Bay is that every visit feels completely different. We’ve been plenty of times before, yet there are always new things to do, new people to meet and new memories to make.
This trip definitely proved that.
A Visit to Doniford Farm Park
As usual, one of our stops was Doniford Farm Park, It’s right next to the holiday park and remains one of our favourite places to wander over to. Even better, entry is free, so it’s one of those places you can visit without having to plan your whole day around it or spend a fortune.
We had a wander around, saw the animals and enjoyed having something completely different to do just a short distance from the caravan, when you’re staying at Doniford Bay with children, having places like this nearby makes such a difference.
Haven Entertainment and Activities
We spent plenty of time around the Haven entertainment complex too, the entertainment team were brilliant, and my son got involved with a number of the activities taking place around the park.
One of the biggest moments for him was doing the high jump drop for the first time, often mulling on every previous visit and backing out last minute, this trip was the time he said he would, so seeing him actually get up there and go for it was one of those proud-parent moments that made the holiday even more memorable.
There always seems to be something happening around the site, which is one of the reasons we rarely feel the need to leave Doniford Bay every day.
Crazy Golf, Football and Dancing
Crazy golf became a recurring theme of the holiday (and he’s getting better!). We ended up playing several games over the course of the stay, with the usual mixture of questionable putting skills, accidental trick shots, blatant 7 year old privilege cheating and arguments over who was actually winning.
We also made use of the mini football pitches, which are completely free to use, my sons new found passion is football, so being able to just grab a ball and go for a kickabout without booking anything or paying extra is brilliant.
That’s part of the fun of Doniford Bay. You can start the day without much of a plan and somehow end up doing five different things before dinner.
We Nearly Won Bingo… Again and Again
Bingo became another major part of our evenings, since our last visits, he’s addicted, and I quite enjoy it myself too! We played most nights and came frustratingly close to winning on several occasions, as usual there was also kids’ bingo, which my son loves.

There’s something strangely addictive about sitting there waiting for that final number, convinced that this is definitely going to be the night you win.
It wasn’t.
But we’ll be trying again when we return.
Relaxing at The Box Bar and Outdoor Venue
Not every part of the holiday was non-stop activity, we also spent some time relaxing around The Box Bar and the outdoor entertainment area, a great live singer on one of the days, unfortunately it was also the great winds, so was rather gusty and did spoil a perfect performance!
It’s a great place to sit down, grab a drink and enjoy the atmosphere while everything is going on around you, during the visit we even caught a glimpse of Ross from Married at First Sight UK, which was a fairly unexpected Doniford Bay moment!

Ross from Married at First Sight in the Doniford Bay Entertainment Venue!
There’s a really nice mixture on the site between busy family entertainment and places where you can simply sit back and relax for a while.
A Day Out in Minehead
We also headed into Minehead for a day of shopping and wandering around, and even bought some suits for my eldest sons wedding in the looming weeks, Minehead is close enough to Doniford Bay that it makes an easy day out if you fancy leaving the park for a few hours. We purchased matching duck outfits, complete with hats, not the best fashion choice of 2026, but we were on holiday, we were having fun, and I wasn’t going to let him steal the duck limelight!

My son also made an important discovery while we were there.
Fun Snaps.
If you know, you know.
Apparently these tiny pieces of explosive pavement-based entertainment are one of the greatest inventions ever created, judging by his reaction.
E-Scooters and a Walk Along the Beach
We also went out for an e-scooter ride during the trip, which gave us another chance to explore the local area, one of my favourite things about Doniford Bay is the location itself. You’ve got countryside, the coast, nearby towns and plenty of places to explore without needing to travel very far.
We also went for a local beach walk, which was a nice change of pace after all the activities on the holiday park, sometimes these quieter moments end up being some of the best parts of the holiday.
Making Friends Around the Park
One of the nicest things about this trip was seeing my son make lots of friends around the site, children seem to find each other incredibly quickly on holiday parks.
One minute they’re kicking a football around by themselves and ten minutes later there’s an entire group of them playing together.
I ended up chatting to several other caravan owners around Doniford Bay too, There’s a really friendly community around the park, the staff are brilliant, and the more time we spend there, the more familiar it starts to feel.
Some Time Relaxing in the Caravan
Of course, we didn’t spend every second outside, there were plenty of quieter moments back at the caravan too.
We’ve got a good amount of LEGO there for guests and for my son to play with, so there were several LEGO-building sessions when we wanted a break from everything else.
We also watched some television and started designing something we’re currently calling the Movie Box. The idea is a small device that plugs directly into the caravan television and contains a selection of films and TV series ready to watch. Once we’ve finished putting it together, we’re hoping to leave it in the caravan for our guests to enjoy too.
It should be perfect for quieter evenings, rainy days or those moments when everyone just wants to collapse on the sofa after spending the entire day around the park.
And Somehow We Never Went Swimming
Probably the strangest thing about the entire trip is that, despite everything we did, we never actually got around to going swimming, we simply ran out of time, that says quite a lot about how much there is to do at Doniford Bay.
Thankfully, we don’t have long to wait.
We’re heading back again on 21st August, and swimming is already firmly on the list this time.
Along with more crazy golf, and probably more bingo, and almost certainly another trip to Doniford Farm Park.
Why We Love Our Caravan at Doniford Bay
Every time we visit, I’m reminded why having a caravan at Doniford Bay has become such a big part of our family life, it gives us somewhere we can escape to without having to organise a huge holiday, we can pack the car, head down to the coast and immediately have dozens of things to do.

This particular trip included animals, entertainment, crazy golf, bingo, football, dancing, Minehead, e-scooters, beach walks, LEGO, evenings in the bar and plenty of time just hanging out together.
And we still didn’t manage to fit everything in, for me, that’s what makes Doniford Bay such a brilliant place for a family caravan holiday.
You can make the trip as busy or as relaxed as you want.
We came home tired, slightly disappointed that we still haven’t won the bingo, and already looking forward to going back.
Roll on 21st August!
