My son and I visit Doniford Bay several times every year, so perhaps it was only a matter of time before I finally took the plunge and purchased a caravan at Doniford Bay!

Over the years, we have made loads of brilliant memories here. No two visits are ever quite the same and, regardless of what the British weather decides to throw at us, we always seem to find plenty to do.

Our latest trip included many of our usual favourites:

  • Doniford Farm Park
  • Watchet Harbour
  • Doniford Bay Beach
  • Kids’ Bingo
    We needed number 74 for a full house! The night before, we were only two numbers away!
  • Adults’ Bingo

Blue Anchor Car Boot Sale has become one of our regular stops whenever it is running. You never quite know what you are going to find, which is all part of the fun. There are usually plenty of toys, games, collectables and random bargains to search through.

Doniford Farm Park is another place we return to again and again. Located right next to the holiday park, it is perfect for spending a relaxed couple of hours seeing and feeding the animals. The farm itself is free to visit, making it one of the best family attractions near Doniford Bay.

We also spent some time wandering around Watchet Harbour. Watchet is only a short journey from Doniford Bay and is always worth visiting for a walk around the harbour, a look through the local shops and, usually, something nice to eat.

Of course, no visit would be complete without heading down to Doniford Bay Beach. It might not be a traditional sandy beach, but there is always something interesting to find along the shoreline. My son enjoys exploring, looking for unusual stones and seeing what the tide has left behind.

Something New After More Than Nine Visits

Despite visiting Doniford Bay more than nine times, we had somehow never made it into the soft play area before.

We finally changed that during this trip and had a brilliant time.

One of the things I really like about Doniford Bay is that it has plenty going on without feeling overwhelmingly busy. The soft play was lively enough for the children to have fun and make new friends, but it was not as loud, crowded or chaotic as some of the much larger holiday resorts.

My son quickly found other children to play with while I had a chance to sit down and relax. It turned out to be another great activity that we will almost certainly visit again during future stays.

Evenings at Doniford Bay

Our evenings usually involve heading into the main entertainment complex, enjoying the shows and, of course, playing bingo.

The children’s bingo is always good fun, although getting close to a full house can become surprisingly tense! This time we were waiting for number 74 and genuinely thought it might finally be our night.

Sadly, number 74 never appeared.

The previous evening was even closer, with only two numbers standing between us and a full house. That is bingo though, and I am sure we will try again during our next visit!

Once the children’s entertainment finished, it was time for the adults’ bingo and the evening entertainment.

Why We Keep Returning to Doniford Bay

Doniford Bay has become much more than somewhere we occasionally visit. It is somewhere my son and I already associate with adventures, days out and time spent together.

The holiday park has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, family entertainment, activities, places to eat and plenty to explore nearby.

There is also a completely different pace compared with some of the larger holiday resorts. You can spend the morning enjoying activities around the park, head into Watchet during the afternoon and finish the evening watching entertainment or playing bingo.

Now that we have our own caravan at Doniford Bay, we will be able to visit even more often, explore places we have not yet discovered and hopefully create many more family memories along the way.

Although winning a game of bingo would be nice too!
